An excuse to get the covers off (Southern)
For those of us soft southerners looking for an excuse to take the old Porka out for a spin, how about the Goodwood Breakfast Club?
http://www.goodwood.co.uk/breakfast-club/breakfast-club.aspx
The next one is on Sunday 5th December and is free.
Seems like a nice excuse to take the old beasty out for a trundle down some country roads, look at some pretty cars, meet some like-minded petrol heads and have a decent breakfast. I dunno how many of us it is in range for, but it would be good to meet a few from on here.

Just be careful - hes got a tyre fetish
Re: An excuse to get the covers off (Southern)
Yea I noticed that. I'll have to keep my cheapo tyres hidden or he might not want to be seen with me
Maybe i can sand off the wording on the side wall...

Yeah. We can form a small convoy for mutual protection from Fezzas, Massers and Beetles.
Off the top of my head we could meet at Hook and then take the road over to Farnham and head down to Goodwood that way. Perhaps work out an alternate route for the way back?

Sounds good! Might get the missus to drive my Mini and bring that as well (it's got better tyres on it )

Excellent. Works for me. Any more takers or are we the sole southern contingent?
Re: An excuse to get the covers off (Southern)
PM'd you my phone numebr, I reckon we probably need to meet at about 730 ish to get there for 830, but i don't k now the way, last time I went was about 4 years ago and I can't remember how to get there! All I remember about the journey was queing to get in (went to the revival) with the mini overheating as my rad was shot!!
We could probably meet at the petrol stations (where the texaco and the other one are opposite each other)

You should have my mobile number by return PM and the two petrol stations is a good meeting point.
1 hour from Hook to Goodwood seems about right; it isn't particularly far but there are lots of hamlets with speed restrictions on the way. 8:30 arrival sounds ok; I should be ready for breakfast by then.
I thought on the way out we could head over to Farnham via the A287, follow that down through Hindhead to Haselmere and then pick up the A286. That will take us down through Fernhurst, Midhurst and on to Singleton before taking the road up past Goodwood Race Track (horses) and down to Goodwood Circuit.
On the way back, we can take a different route for a bit of variety. If we head straight for Basingstoke in an "as the crow flies mode" there's a nice collection of A and B roads to play on.
The round trip will be about 80-90 miles, I think.

Sounds good... Might have to re-fill the mini en-route, not sure it can cope with that many miles on one tank!

It either has a very small tank or a very large engine!
Re: An excuse to get the covers off (Southern)
Very small tank, and tuned engine which does very few to the gallon!!

There's a certain irony in the two "conspicuous consumption luxury sports cars" having a more useful range than the "economical people's car"...
