Going over the top Empty Going over the top

Post by RPUK Sun 28 Nov 2010, 23:14

I took a run to just North of Birmingham yesterday, all-in-all about a 300 mile round trip. The roads were glazed white and by the time I got home there was so much salt encrusted over my headlamps that they were completely useless when I made it onto country roads with no street lights.

This is ludicrous. We do not need THAT much salt on the roads and frankly I've never seen it quite so over-the-top. Someone needs to get a grip.

* grumbles *

Should have took the '44 headlight washers built in Laughing

Saying that it was that cold last night doubt they would have worked!

Heh, I dunno if they even work on my '44. It isn't something I have ever tested. The only system that I found that was effective was the one on my old Volvo; it had wiper blades on the headlights.

You can tell when you're driving at night, looks like the lights have dimmed and half of it ends up on the windscreen.....

At least thats what happens on mine Laughing

Wot, dimmer than they already are?

I try and avoid running with the "air brakes" up, preferring to use the "driving lights" where possible.

they will be complaining that they have ran out of salt and be trying to nick salt off of us again
Most of the Councils we work along side had let the Highways Agency hire thier salt dumps as they did not need them - unfortunatley they have needed them for the last years but they signed a contract so we will not let them have them back hence why the Highways has enought
Bloody politics but the council shot themselfs by money grabing
