Me neither!
Maybe we should write to Haynes and ask them to write an owners club manual
I hope it is more accurate than their "944 Owner's Manual", otherwise I still won't understand.

924 potted history:
Started as an information website by someone who thought a club would be a good idea ... but who didn't really like people that much so became lifetime president and promptly disapeared. (This is a theme)
The idea of a club was the progressed by Rob and a guy called Pete. There were a couple of other 'movers' in the first 6 months but we had our first split around then and they exited to start a new club (didn't happen ... this too is a theme!)
We had our first national rally in Summer 2006 with 20 odd cars turning up. I was so drunk from trying to outdrink a couple of Welsh nutters that I don't even remember the show! For a while sweetness and light shone with some really good guys and girls turning up. Our second national rally had about 35 cars turn up and club membership was doubling each year.
During this period Pete was chairman. As an outgoing, affable kind of person he was the ideal choice. He then promptly disappeared for about 2 years earning the new title of Lord Lucan! No really ... he just dissapeared!
Rob took over as chairman when we finally gave up the search for Pete and we generally had another good couple of years. We got a decent magazine out and had 5 or 6 shows each year which were well attended. membership hit about 300. The forum was very good with some very techy people as regulars.
The bad part was that as the club grew we couldn't really run it as a dictatorship any more and none of those on the committee at the time (Rob, me, Tux etc) could really be arsed to listen to people moan and whinge constantly. We had always dealt with dissent in the same way ... give them their money back and tell them to *bonk* off! Apparantly that isn't the way to run a democratic club with a consitution ... who knew?!
So, early 2010 (my God 3 years ago) we quit and came here. I'm not quite sure how this keeps moving along but it does ... occasionally we lure in the odd passer-by and I wonder if we ought to take the shop sign down or risk prosecution under the trades description act!

Nice summary - understand now.
Only bit I didn't follow was "take the shop sign down" ...

Having held every committee position in my local camera club over the years we had the same problem. Club got bigger, everything went to a vote or back to the membership for approval so decisions were never made. Got bored with it in the end!
Re: We are now officially pointless!!
Only joking about the 'shop sign'! If you looked quickly at the website we might appear to be a car club rather than a sad bunch of blokes who had stumbled in and forgotten where the exit was! Would hate to mislead anyone.
Re: We are now officially pointless!!
Andy please stop talking to the new members, you know thay have to be broken in slowly.. now back in your control room, you may melt.
Re: We are now officially pointless!!
Oh god. When you said that Rob I had a vision of Homer J Simpson in the nuclear power plant control room.
Re: We are now officially pointless!!
If you had met Andy you would realise how accurate that image was!!
