Re: I've done it.
Right, I've dropped the reserve to 1250 which has just been hit.
It's definitely going now!

Re: I've done it.
Giving the car to do the handover when it gets picked up while I cry in the corner
Re: I've done it.
Well. Auctions got about an hour to go and it's been stuck on about 1300 for the last 3 days, over 1300 views and 70 watchers. Reserve has been removed so it's going now what ever
Any predictions?

Re: I've done it.
If it helps.
I paid £1550 for mine just over 12 months ago with 103,000 on the clock. Mine is original but had a new interior which is in keeping with the car.
If you advertise elsewhere, you could be in for an uphill battle and the eBay auction could still result in tyre kickers or people disputing your description.
Think I'd see how it goes.

Oh hopefully it will have a mad rush at the endMonkeymagic wrote:Too late now. Not allowed to do it in the last day
Re: I've done it.
Very disappointing. I was willing it along at the end, know what it's like to get too little for something on eBay. Nothing seems to sell for a decent price on there these days. Would have bought it myself if it had been manual.
Got my Fiat on the coupe forum for £400 because there's a gearbox problem. Nobody's interested. I could sell the upgrades I've put on for more than that and still have a complete car. Really don't want to break it want somebody to finish what I started.

Re: I've done it.
How do you think I felt with £570 for mine with a full mot. To be honest Andy I think you have done well.
Re: I've done it.
So do I.
Bloke I bought from wanted £1800. We agreed on £1550 and that was high IMO. Only reason I agreed was the petrol and agro involved in doing viewings would probably have ended up costing me £200 and this was just down the road.

Re: I've done it.
How many people actually came to look at it? In my experience there is an evens chance that the winning bidder won't even contact you much less turn up with a handfull of 20's.
As Rob says, I reckon you have done OK there Andy. I know it isn't what you wanted but I think we all tend to value our cars more than they are worth to anyone else.
Look to the future an what you are going to replace it with.

Re: I've done it.
It baffles me why these cars are valued so low.
Give it another 10 years! Maybe they'll be worth something by then?!

Re: I've done it.
We all said that 7 years ago and the prices haven't really moved at all. I think they are always going to have an image problem due to the Volkswagen connection so the uneducated will miss out on the fun.
By comparison, the Bentley Continental shares chassis and parts with the VW Phaeton, the Lamborghini Gallardo shares chassis and engine with the Audi R8 yet they don't seem to suffer the same image issues. I wonder why?

Got caught out by this myself a few years ago when I sold a Clio the day before the auction finished so had to get my dad to place a ridiculous bid to make sure he won it
To be honest whilst it's probably now where near what it owes you I think you have done well. It's what stops me doing anything with mine, looks rough as *bonk* due to laquer peel and car park dents but it's reasonably solid and drives ok so that is all I worry about.

The words Bentley, Lamborghini & R8 probably sound better than Bedford van in the advert
Re: I've done it.
Got 1600 in the end. Auction carried on after ebay finished.
Bloke who won it on eBay didn't contact me in 24 hours so went to someone else.
At least i got a parking space now
