Aston Martin at Mountain Mayhem

Spent last weekend in the company of 24 Aston Martin engineers at the 24hr mountain bike race, Mountain Mayhem. Teams and individuals battled it out to complete the most laps of an off road course in 24 hrs. I was supposed to be riding but my shoulder is still knackered. A mate used to work for them and is invited back each year. They had a large stand and space for all the tents. Plus 3 rather nice cars parked out front. Here's 2... More pics to follow.

Nice cars, but did they win?
Kind of odd looking at the front of an Aston now that Ford have "borrowed" the grille.

Odd that I nearly posted EXACTLY the same comment earlier! I'm guessing the 10% of Aston that Ford still own is the grille shop!

The 3 cars were;
Vanquish full carbon fibre, 4.1s to 62 mph, 565 bhp, 183 mph but this one set to 204 mph
V12 Vantage S Coupe, 0-62 unconfirmed, 565 bhp, top speed set at 212 mph
V8 Vantage Roadster, 4,7s to 62 mph, 420 bhp, 180 mph (not pictured)

My wife's company make all the carbon fibre body bits .... so when you look at the price tag remember that most of it is made by hairy monkeys in a shed on the Isle of Wight!! Actually I had a sneaky look around the factory at the weekend and it is fun spotting the cars from the carbon shells ... they also make for Porsche, Ferrari, Jag and Rolls Royce.
