my rides
ok to start with my daily hack 1994 range rover Di early release model built mid 94 and registered to the public dec 95, still needs some work especially after 200,000 miles
my 1971 mini cooper hibernating
the slow resurection of the porka
slowly getting there, when i got her there was no glass, engine partially siezed, no fuel pump and a leaky fuel tank of and full of water. she is getting there.......... slowly
so work so far was replace both front window glasses and replace both motors and mechanisms, replace front windscreen, replace rear hatch, hoover up all broken glass from inside as all windows had been vandalised and dry out the whole inside and start scrubbing the interior. the engine was stripped and fitted with new rings as one was broken quick hone then new bottom bearings as it was in bits anyway and built back up. fitted a fuel pump and poped in fuel to discover the tank was leaking. the leak is from the underside (where the pipe comes out from the swirl pot to go to the pump, to the left of that there is a metal pipe attached to the tank that takes the pipe from the return line.... well this pipe is porous ). at this point i got *wee wee* off and rob was selling his red GTC copy i wanted to buy it but 500 miles to transport turned out to be a nightmare so it then lay over the winter till recently due to holidays weather and work and money when i stripped the pump off.................. and that is where i am. ordered a new pump, repair on the tank is nearly complete just the fibreglass resin to paint on it all and get a new battery and it should fire up.
parts still to get
battery
fuel pump (ordered)
brown steering wheel
rear shocks because they are in poor condition
front shocks and springs as they are in poor condition
all brakepipes
all fuel lines
and anything i can think of

Re: my rides
Love the Cooper ... but you sure didn't pick the easiest 924 by the sounds of it! Still I can't talk, I've had one on my drive for 2 1/2 years now and whole glaciers have passed by quicker than my progress
Re: my rides
the shell is perfect the rest is well............a challenge and for £100 i can complain
that included all new glass except the windscreen............. £220 fitted ouch
i recon by thetime ive finnished her she will owe me about £500 and lots of hours
where else will you get a sports car with full knowlege that all the work that should be done has been done???

Re: my rides
Nice rides. The Mini does look smart. I'm sure the Toofah will as well by the time you have finished it.

Re: my rides
Never seen 3 point belts for the rear TBH. May be available I guess. Plenty of lap type belts available though.

On an 'S' Maybe but the n/a does not have the mounting points in the rear for the inertia reel. you could use 3 point statics though
