Hi im lo41 im well known to the 924 community
my project 924 is coming along nicely i have just installed a 944 rear hatch gaining big boy spoiler and wiper motor, had been done away with on my original hatch! I paid just £20 for the 944 hatch with spoiler struts complete nice straight swap. The tailgates are pretty much valueless due to inpraticality of shipping. Local collection only sort of thing.
Im having trouble cold starting - no enrichment on cold starts, im waiting to recieve a warm up regulator. I do my best for the project. I represent PORSCHE.
Im not sure if i should replace the porsche lettering on the rear or is it cleaner without it?
when i bought it
The body work was what sold the car to me - the originality and the fact its black! it was the poor repairs and details that let it down. The dirvers door handle was coming away in your hand, the window regulator had broken teeth, and glass had to be pushed up. Wiper's had no relay? to return the blades to rest position. Speaker covers missing, stereo just there, but not fitted. Steering wheel horn paddle - was hanging out by wires.
Here with the original 14"s i dont mind these wheels, but as the VAG parts bin has become a lot bigger over the years - theres more interesting possiabilities
I used my hairdryer to remove the lettering off the bk as was worn and paint faded beneath
Check out the custom exhaust! way too short and so close to the rear bumper, it banged and had partially melted the bumper. It sounded like *poo* the road test was embrassing. however though it made this car worth significantly less.
I wander why people bother to do repairs like these. It must have been better broken. The owner had actually cut out silencer and rewelded it together, discarded original mounts. It made it very difficult for me to figure out how the pattern part original system fitted to the car without correct mountage present? The guy didint do the car any favours.
1st part that went in the skip and rightly so. What a piece of junk
The interior was well *poo*, and it felt like getting into a morris marina rather than a porsche.
ususal dash cracks, torn seats made it feel very tatty.
also into the skip - I tried selling them, but just timewasters so in the bin. Shame i bet they looked very plush when they were new. 1 guy wanted the seats for his hillman imp. For the irony of the poor mans porsche - hillman imp? rear engine. funny guy so funny he never turned up.
I did the quick fix and fitted a crude dash overlay. But im v pleased with it. I wanted to get on to other areas. I may return to it later, maybe suede of fabric cover ?
Pleased with the fit, fitted it with a glue gun - so can be removed cleanly and reinstalled, no screws.
I paid £400 for these seats including rear in mint condition. Its half what i paid for the car - but i have seen seats not as good as this go for twice that amount.
Worth selling the Alfa Romeo to pay for. A sound investment. Superb engine but quite boring to drive compared to the 924, 155 1.8 Twin spark 140bhp. Performance was incrediably close to the 924. But the 924 was a lot cleaner off the lights.

Re: lo41 known as
thanks you guys - im running on the 1991 Audi Quattro coupe alloys - with a porsche style paint job 15" on 205 rear 195 front tasty. Lot of people mock me for not having porsche wheels. but the 924 is made from VAG parts so i see having Audi wheels as original if you get me. Porsche 924 Vrs Audi quattro i think thats pretty cool man.

Porsche 924 Vrs Audi Quattro
Audi wheels were paint striped, polished up, wire brushed. Nothing professional. Low budget job. But breaks up the black. Id love to know if the decel is original? If not its been really well done, and is placed just so high as i would have chosen.

Re: lo41 known as
My original badge panal was spot welded on - and was dented, managed to get an already black original panal from a 944 with bolt on fit. And carried out the time consuming conversion.
Sweet man!

Re: lo41 known as
hi thanks a lot - i wasnt sure about weather or not the seats would even fit. But at the price i paid, I could at least sell them for more if they didnt fit. They were on ebay at a fixed price of £400 buy it now. Had the guy put them on at auction, hed soon discover they be bidded quite a bit more than that.
I was very pleased to discover they bolted straight in with no modification, they are fully electric, but i was further pleased to find they had manual controls anyway? So i havnt bothered at this time. People have told me may well be wiring for them under the carpet but i doubt it? maybe someone knows. Very pleased with Audi wheels offset was well out, required 20mm wheel spacers.

Re: lo41 known as
Know what you mean running my '44 on 993 wheels at the minute, but there rears could do with spacers, looking to replace them soon though so not bothering.
The wiring won't be there as those seats where never an option on the 924, but the wiring isn't a difficult job, just more fiddly than anything
