Hello and goodbye, all at once
Well, this is rubbish.
I’ve been a massive 944 fan for the past seven years or so, but I’ve only just come across this forum—in the week that I’ve taken the hard decision to sell up.
Bugger.
Anyway, hi. Some of you might have seen me around other bits of the Porsche-related web. Or not. I dunno.
I started off a few years back with an impulse buy from eBay after a bottle or two of red wine. A standard ’85 944 which, quite frankly, turned out to be a bit of a shed.
I did a little work on it, fell completely in love with the handling, and learned enough to make sure that I could identify a better one next time. Kept it three months and sold it on for a fiver profit.
Then I travelled down to London to buy an ’87 oval-dash 944 from a Detective at the Met. I adored this one. Black as night, inside and out (once I’d finished with it) and with some utterly gorgeous alloys.
Eventually I decided that it was time to go for broke and upgrade to a Turbo. This was my keeper. I found the best I could, 250bhp full M030 spec, bought it from an independent garage owner who had treated it like royalty the whole time he had it. Then I set about tweaking things to get it just the way I wanted. Tinted windows, super-hot sound system, adjustable wastegate, boost enhancer, polyflex bushes, custom exhaust, short shift kit, and all sorts of other subtle mods. Topped off with vented fibreglass front wings. It’s one of a kind, I reckon.
Sadly, due to getting divorced last year, I can’t afford to keep it any more. I’m giving up car ownership for a few years, so my pride and joy is now for sale.
And now I find a really friendly looking front-engine forum? Damn.
(Anyway, if anyone is interested in finding out more about the car there’s a long, detailed classified ad on Pistonheads. Since I’m not a paid-up member here I won’t be so rude as to link to it.)

Been around for a couple of years but we are low key
Does look like a stunner - any shoots of the inside?

Aye, here you go. The comfortable inside and the oily inside …
My friends can’t seem to believe that I’m giving it up. I think they all associate the car with me a bit too much.

I wish that were an option, but even if it was we all know how poorly these cars take to long periods of inactivity. They thrive on being used!

Hello, good evening and, err, goodbye.
Always the way isn't it! The last two of your rides look like really nice examples. A real shame you have to part, but such is life and with the way the country is at present I can understand why.
Feel free to stick around the forum, we are a fairly nice bunch and we won't hold being a public transport user against you!

Re: Hello and goodbye, all at once
Did you ever do a thread on one of the other Porka forums about the wings? The look familiar, but can't remember if I saw them on TIPEC or PCGB.
Might well just be dreaming about the whole thing, its been know to happen, I keep having this dream I owned 4 front engined Porka's then went and bought a mid engined MG..
Oh balls that wasn't a dream was it......
No need to say hello & goodbye though, no-one cares what car you own here

We do sometimes have a problem if it's Italian. French or Pink.

Purple is fine Paul ... for many girls it is their favourite colour when choosing pencil cases and novelty troll type ornaments.

In my defence it was bought for the missus for Xmas, although bizarrely she uses the 4x4 more in the summer than the winter (which is how I've ended up with it!), had a bit of trouble towing the horsebox with the MG

In my defence ... I'm not interested in your defence You have a Purple car so we can take the *wee wee*.
Re: Hello and goodbye, all at once
Paul, ignore Steve. Just console yourself with the fact that Shlurple isn't French OR Italian!
