Hi all
Hi folks,
just joined this forum and i'm sure i'll have plenty of questions to ask advice on down the line. I've got an '86 944 lux with a fsh but lots of little jobs to do. Currently overhauling the whole braking system and clutch hydraulics, and got all the fuel pipes to do as well. I have a turbo rear spoiler for it which i must also fit. Anyone attempted/completed this? Anything in particular to look out for?

Re: Hi all
thanks for the welcome guys, yeah its the 8v alright and it seems a pretty good unit. The only problem I have under the hood really is a leaky P/S pipe (common enough i hear) and the bloody sound deadening is well past its best and is flaking off everywhere in the engine bay. It gets everywhere...

Re: Hi all
I have used one of the stop leak products in my system works for me, as for the sound deadening take it off I used a Hoover IMHO it makes very little if any difference.

Re: Hi all
Got to agree with Dave, the sound deadening makes naff all difference. I used a big dust sheet and a scraper, but then I'm not as high tech as Dave is!

Ah, but the deadening looks nice when it is all pristine and new! If you are feeling flush then porschshop sell the proper fitted one ... about £60 mind!
Re: Hi all
Or if you are tight like me it can be bought from Wollies trim for a bit less and cut to shape. Not sure the saving makes it wiorthwhile though.

Ah ... back to the land of the living now. Got a grand total of three jobs booked for the whole of March and April ... happy days are here again Self-employment rocks!!!
Re: Hi all
I have to agree just clear the soundproofing off you'd be hard pushed to hear the difference, plus when it rots it gets in everything!!

Re: Hi all
If you want to spend £90.00 + p&p, these are quite a nice touch...

Re: Hi all
I must admit if money wasn't an issue and I had a bottomless pit of money to throw at a '24 resto I'd buy it
But yep my car only cost just over two of those

Thanks bob
wouldn't mind that S2 cab though....yeah a labour of love alright. Can't beat a few hours out in the garage working on it. Roll on the summer. As for the sound insulation....yeah I think I'm gonna try the vacuum on it.....

Re: Hi all
Don't bother with the sound insulation - just let the engine sound ring in your ears.

Hi all
The garage isn't all its cracked up to be...who am i kidding....its bloody brilliant. Sheltered from the cold and *wee wee* rain, some good tunes playing on cd....life is good.
You're right about the sound, it's got a lovely rasp when you open her up, especially in 3rd...less insulation will make it all the better.
