The GIT
Well picked up the GIT yesterday and I have to say that the seller was more than true to his word! He has owned it for 4 years and done 10,000 miles. During that time I have bills for a complete re-work of the head (£1100), New gearbox and clutch (£850), Front and rear axle refurb (£700), Thatcham 1 alarm (£350), new brakes (lines, calipers the lot - £600), fuel dizzy £300, alloys refurbed £350, seats rebolstered and about another £600 in bits. All in all about £5k Car also has had a pro respray at some point and is still spotless. Best bit though ... it drives just like I remember it

Re: The GIT
Looks the business Steve, I'm chuffed for you.
I have to say though £350 for wheel refurb? Sounds a tad excessive to me.
Anyway, that aside, I bet you have an ear to ear grin today! Welcome to the world of Chavdom!

Very nice.
Had 1 in white G30 BSX loved it and it could shift.
That was a few years ago

Re: The GIT
You know looking at that makes me want my '87 XR2 back, OK not as quick as the 1.9 GIT, but that was my first hot hatch and I love the way those 80's rollerskates used to make you smile

Re: The GIT
Hope there's enough room in the back for the happy pigs?
On a lighter note, after reading this thread i think the forum needs a name change. to www.notarealmidlifecrisis.com
And no the link does not work. but gives me a very nasty idea..

Re: The GIT
Yes Steve it really is a lovely looking car. My son had one in his youth but eventually sold it as he claimed he couldn't stand the noise. Mind you he did travel from Grimsby to watch GTFC play at Plymouth in a night Match.

Re: The GIT
..... notamidlifecrisis.com not telling me you thought of that Rob!!? In terms of slightly middle aged blokes buying sports cars from their youth .... this club is a bit of a glass house where stones definetely shouldn't be thrown ... by anyone!!!!
As for noisy ... my one criticism would be that it needs a bigger sound. Funnily enough I've seen a 4 branch stainless manifold & exhaust system on the bay

Re: The GIT
Thats what i ment Steve when i said we need a name change.
This place is a glasshouse. Were all as bad as each other.
I must say for French Clutter its a very nice car. Can't wait to see it at Sandwell (That is of course if it makes it, it is French after all and may want to blockaide the Islands ferry port and burn sheep).
