Grrr. Bloody cars
The ingnition barrel on the clio packed in today the key won't turn in it.
The nice man from the RAC kindly stripped it out so you can start it without the key but looks like it is going to cost a fortune to repair as you can't just replace the barrel because of a proximity sensor built into the key yor the imobiliser.

More I read about things like this and having had the expense of electrical demons in the Rover the more I'm determined to keep running old cars!

Re: Grrr. Bloody cars
Providing you can get a barrel to match your key, you should be fine.
The transponder sensor is around the barrel called the decoder ring and it's simply an aerial to pick the key up. My mate has just paid £180 for a new barrel and two new keys to match the cars original locks if that's any help.

Gareth suffers from the same problem I do, the other half's car is their car and keep your hands off until it breaks and needs money spent on it then it amazingly becomes mine
