A guy a couple of doors up has a really nice BX GTI 16v and only wants about £1,200. Almost agreed on the spot but thought I would do a bit of research first. Only 32 left on the road with rust a real killer under those bits of plastic trim so parts supply is nearly non-existant. Mind you 160BHP and ony weighs a bit more than the GIT!

According to the seller, oil starvation is a big problem on these engines. Mind you can't believe you took any notice of a french dial readout ... dur they are only there for show Rolling Eyes

Friend had one. The hydraulic pipes are prone to rot too. But later ones had plastic pipes so you can retro fit ?

That exhausts my useful knowledge. Except to say I owned 2 x AX and a ZX diesel. They were all crap.

Rob - I see nothing wrong with wanting to spend hour after hour, night after night, week after week, banging away in the garage, with a French thing Laughing

Just a shame it isn't a pretty French thing in this case.

Steve, you need help! Almost bought some more French crap! 1072678041

You both have a fair points to make!! Anyway, I'm not going to buy it as it would appear that they rot even quicker than the X19!!
