I need an intermittent wiper relay, buy £50 seems a bit steep! Anyone either have one going spare for some cash, or know if there's anything from another car which will do the job??

The switchgear was lifted straight from the MK1 Golf, so may be worth having a chat with a VW dealer.

I've looked at that, but it seems this particular relay is different Neutral

Hmm. Not sure as the PET is a little vague to my untrained eye, but I reckon one of these might be it.

Interval Relay - 477 955 531 A
Warning Time Relay - 928 618 102 03

111 955 531 doesn't appear in either the N/A or the S PET (or the 944 PETs), but it is very similar to the "Interval Relay - 477 955 531 A" part number.

That's right according to the wiring diagram, but the one on my car has different terminal numbers on it Neutral

I've been out with the multimeter today, and it appears there is a short on the motor it's self between the park / intermittant terminals and the earth... got the washer working by disconnecting these terminals off the motor, so not really sure now if it's the relay, the motor or both! The relay does not seem to 'click' when you pull the switch, and if you run the motor straight off the battery it only works on the two continuous wipe speeds, the intermittant & park terminals just spark!

Anyone got any ideas? I'm all out now! Thought I had it with the relay... Knowing my luck I probably need a motor and a relay! Laughing

the motor doesnt have an intermittant or park terminal.

it has fast and slow speeds. Earth is provided by the mounting.
the other two terminals are +12v and feedback to the relay.
the feedback tells the relays if it is parked or not by either putting out 12v or earth.

All sorted now, thanks for the relay mate! I now have wipers which return themselves to the park position... On to the next job! LOL!
