Porsche-less Empty Porsche-less

Post by Willr Fri 21 Jan 2011, 06:01

So, I'm now porscheless, but only for a day while it's in the garage. Had to limp it down to Southampton tonight, and picking it up on Saturday...

It will the have:

A new water pump
No more oil leak
new cam and balance belts
new pullies and tensioners

All for the princely sum of around 600 quid.

Happy days! Can't wait to get it back, been 3 weeks in the old Mini now and it's just too LOUD and too bouncy!!

That sounds like a reasonable price for the work. Porsche-less 915866

So... oil leak was cam cover gaskit not one of the shaft oil seals, so no car back until next week as they have to order in the Gaskit...

Charging me and extra 100 for labour for doing cam cover gaskit, so sill no too bad really. Just gutted I haven't got it this weekend! I was looking forwards to it.

Still no car! They were putting it back together for me to pick up today, and the power steering pump bracket is cracked!!
They're getting one from a breaker for £100 (not the 650 that Porsche wanted) and I can pick her up on Friday Rolling Eyes
Hopefull that's all now!!

I bought a bit from Porsche Reading today for £1.66. It presented payment problems, they had no change. Porsche dealers are like royalty it seems, they don't carry cash.

No problems like that Up North, cash is still King even at OPC Laughing Laughing

Anything hardware and they'll rape you with no 'lube, as for the rubber or plastic bits very reasonable Razz

I'm guessing at £650 they were quoting you for a full pump Wink

So got it back today... Forgot how nice they are to drive (compared to the Mini Laughing )
No more water or oil leak finally. It even got a nice wash and hoover!

II can highly recommend them - Brookspeed if you need a specialist in Southampton.

Basically they only charged me about £300 labour, for about 6 hours all told (plus phoning around for a new steering pump bracket)

Good to hear! It's nice to get a positive recommendation for a specialist within a sensible distance from home. Their sample prices don't look too bad, either!
