just bought another 924,I got 5 now lol
ended up buying a local 924 as the guy wanted to break it,shame these cars are worth more in bits, think it is a manual 83 4,in white, has some boy racer aftermarket black alloys which I am not to sure about,I have a set of refurbed spider webs that I might stick on,going to use as a daily driver till I get chance to restore, has tax and mot till the end of the year, and drives really well

Re: just bought another 924,I got 5 now lol
the interior of this 924 is cream with porsche script with no wear, needs a bit of a clean and the carpet is beige, with black trim, very few crackes on dash and good condition,as I said its a shame they are worth more in bits,I have bought interiors in this condition for £300,so he would of made a lot more in bits, really pushed him

Well done for keeping another one on the road Rich. I know the temptation is always to break and go for the £££s for some people.

Re: just bought another 924,I got 5 now lol
well guys have to be honest,I restore for a living so dont have all those cars now,I am lucky that I get to own and drive lots of very cool cars but I also have to sell for money.the porsche 952 is now in Australia,I sold it and exported it to race in the aussie classic races, restored and sold the 928s,911 I repainted and made mint and sold,>I started on the more expensive porsche models and only really got a 924 by accident, poor car was at an auction in a very sorry state, since then I have become more and more obsessed with the 924,could end up as the only 924 restorer, they are just as much fun as the expensive models, not easy to make money out of but can see the price going upone day, unfortunatly I still have to do 911s 928s and turbo,s

Don't think many people really thought otherwise Rich
But what does it matter, you do a very high standard of work and keep old Porka's that might of otherwise been broken or scrapped on the road, and of course you make a profit but you've been in the game long enough not to ask daft prices for the end product.
Wish I'd know about that for £300 would have travelled down myself for that price!!
The "S" is great but I still prefer the simplicity of the n/a

I went for a good drive round the Cornish lanes today and am still amazzed how much fun the 924 N/A is,and with a few bends in the road very quick, have done these lanes many times in many different porsches, got to say the 924 2lt holds its own,for me I prefer to the 944

Re: just bought another 924,I got 5 now lol
each upgrade seems to add a bit of wieght, the 928 S is faster than the S4,bigger engine, more BHP but then a lot more wieght, sure the full blown 924 1988 le mans S was faster than the 944

Even the standard "S" in 160 version was said to be faster than the 160 '44

Re: just bought another 924,I got 5 now lol
much lighter car, must admit I would like a 160 BHP 924s as you can re-chip to about 180,with the right exhaust

Re: just bought another 924,I got 5 now lol
Indeed, when the S was first made, Porsche had to detune it to stop it outperforming its bigger brother the 944. Using a different map and dishing the pistons to reduce the compression ratio it was taken down to 150 brake.
Eventually to get rid of the last few S bodyshells, they put in the "full power" 160 brake engine.
Strangely they have done the same again with the Cayman. It outperforms the 911 in most areas so they have toned it down a bit to protect their flagship car.

No surprise really, they built it with the engine in the right place when they designed the Cockster

???? I'm lost now. Unless you consider hanging out of the back to be the right place for the engine?
