Re: My 924S....
Big factor for me is that it is rust free (as best I can tell!), and although it has had some paint over the years, it's all be done well.
One 924S I looked at ("must be one of the best around", according to the dealer) had runs in the repainted rear panel!

If it is rust free, then the chances are it is accident free too. They were fully galvanised from the factory, so rust usually only gets a hold if it has been banged and repaired as the replacement panels usually aren't galvanised.

Re: My 924S....
whn the valeter come round, he chked the paint thickness as he did not want to go too far whe buffing it
said that paint is normally 60 when it leaves the factory but mine was double that in the thinner parts and 4 times that over most of it
Swith 20 layers of paint and its still rusting

Re: My 924S....
The two areas on the car that have had attention from the painters are the rear panel, and the driver's side front wing. The rear panel was done back in '93, so it's probably pretty safe. Not sure when the wing was done, but I'm less worried about that, as it's easier to do an isolated repair, or even replace if necessary.
Galvanising is clearly a benefit, but people tend to forget that it is a coating (or electro-coating, more accurately), so any damage to the surface spoils the protection, and not just under the damage....
Thus stonechips and such on the underside can ruin the benefits of galvanising awfully quickly....

You say "common",
I say "best",
Let's call the whole thing off.......
I know it is the most numerous, but the red is my favourite colour, as well as being less of a nightmare to keep clean than white or black, and easier to maintain than metallic colours!
Each to their own.....

Re: My 924S....
Don't get to upset Chris its a bit of a standing joke in these parts about red 924's..
Re: My 924S....
I'm in the White camp with Rob when it comes to Porka's (that even goes for 911's and the Boxster Spyder )
But I have to admit that a freshly polished red ones does look great

Hmm, post didn't work.... oh well.
I've already been ribbed by various Porker owners for having bought a red one. But I wanted to point out that I really did want a red one!
